adeus NPH

That is Portuguese for Goodbye!
(the hubby taught me some words!)

Yes, in one week (we couldn't get our pump training scheduled in until then due to all the back to school commitments our trainer had) we will be saying so long to something that has been somewhat of a friend to our son.

Has NPH kept Our Sugar Babie alive and thriving...YES.

Has NPH helped a toddler who hates shots and fights with all his heart from having to have more shots...YES.

Has NPH been the best insulin regiment for Our Sugar Babie...well at the time...YES.

Has NPH been a pain in the butt with it's peaking and unpredictability...double YES!!

Has NPH screwed with my mind...YES on many occasions with peaking when it shouldn't and then laughing at me while I ran around trying to recover from a low that wasn't suppose to be.

Has NPH made our days so medically scheduled that we must eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at a certain time everyday...YES.

So, in a way it has served it's purpose and now it is time to move on. Will we continue to have NPH in the frig for those times when needed...YES. But I pray with all my heart that those days are behind us as is the NPH.

So adeus friend, we hope we don't have to see you again for a very long time but if we ever do it will be okay for we have become friends in a way. So thank you NPH, for being our sorta friend for a little while and allowing us to move to the next step on August 29th when we go live with the pump. Until then please continue to keep Our Sugar Babie safe in your care for we haven't nor will we ever forget what you have done to save his life thus far.

  1. Hi Kelly!
Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. You have managed to put a perma grin on my face for the rest of the night.

We did NPH for more than a year and a half before we started pumping. Those peeks drove me nuts too!!

  2. Hi Kelly,

A few things about your blog peaked my interest... my daughter is on NPH and we hope to be saying adeus to it soon too.

And is your husband Portuguese? Just wondering because you said your husband has been teaching you some words. If he is, then we have another thing in common; my husband was born and raised in Portugal. Of course, your hubby could also be Brasilian...

And from what I've read on your blog, it looks like your son was dx'd around the same age as my daughter... 12 months?

Anyway, sorry for the novel... just thought the fact that we might have so many things in common was interesting. Mind if I add you to my blogroll?
