August 7, 2010 was a Saturday...
A day that changed our family and our little boy's life forever. Diabetes entered our life this day and it may have changed us in so many ways but it hasn't defeated us and we won't let it. We are still the same family just more special! We are thankful each and every day that Our Sugar Babie can still breathe, laugh, cry, smile, run and most of all is still here for us to love, hug, kiss and especially sing and dance with.
This day will forever be etched in my memory and on my heart as the day that "normal" wasn't normal anymore. A year later... do I still hate diabetes...well I hate what it does to my precious boy and how it makes you react as a parent who feels helpless at times as you sit, wait and watch the highs go higher or the lows go lower...it's the GAME OF LIFE at our house now. But one thing is for sure Our Sugar Babie was a born fighter and we will continue to fight for his life as long as we need to year after year...until a cure is found.
So, as we celebrate LIFE on this August 7, 2011, I wanted Our Sugar Babie to know just how much Mommy and Daddy love him with a little letter of our love:

Dear Our Sugar Babie,
We are writing you this letter on your one year "D"anniversary to let you know just how much Mommy and Daddy love you and how proud of you we are each and everyday. From the time you were conceived you were a fighter. Although your brother or sister who were in mommy's tummy with you went to heaven, you kept on fighting. Even after your brother and sister left you and you had a low heartbeat...you kept on fighting...and even after a diagnosis of diabetes...you still keep on fighting. Everyday as we poke and inject you it is not to hurt you but to give you LIFE as we all continue to fight together. So keep on fighting babie, for diabetes only makes up a very small part of who you are. You are the most special gift that Mommy and Daddy will ever have in this life and nothing can stop us from experiencing everything in it, not even diabetes.
We love you so very much Our Sugar Babie and are blessed to be your parents.
XOXO Mommy & Daddy.

You guys are fighters, too. That left me in tears and awe.
